Instructions:

How can ice skaters do such fast pirouettes? On the pirouette machine, you can try to speed up or slow down the rotation. The rotating chair in the hall works similarly! 

• Stand on the platform and hold onto the handrail. Try to get yourself spinning with your feet. What happens if you pull yourself towards the centre?
• What happens when somebody slowly climbs onto the moving platform?
• What happens when somebody jumps off?

On the pirouette machine, several visitors can experience the principle of conservation of angular momentum. You can find a theoretical explanation of this principle at the ‘rotating chair’
