- Can you build a bridge using exactly eight planks?
- Is it possible to extend the bridge using three planks?
- Which structural element do all bridges have in common?
In 1483, Leonardo da Vinci wrote to his future patron Ludovico Sforza: “I have plans for very light, strong and easily portable bridges with which to pursue and, on some occasions, flee the enemy, and others, sturdy and indestructible either by fire or in battle, easy and convenient to lift and place in position”
